For tool authors

We would rather list a tool nobody has heard of that works than the one everybody is posting about this week. If yours solves a narrow problem well, that is exactly what we are looking for, and listing it costs nothing.

What happens next

  1. 01

    A person reads it

Not a filter and not a queue nobody opens.

  2. 02

    We check it

Pricing, limits and claims against the product itself, not your home page. The tools we go on to use get our score as well.

  3. 03

    You hear back either way

If it is not for us you get told why, which is more use to you than silence.

What we look for

  • It does one thing, and the page says which thing
  • There is a price, or an honest free tier, and both are findable
  • It works without a sales call
  • It will still be there in a month

If you want more than a listing

You can buy attention, never judgement

Everything below is optional, and none of it changes where a tool lands in a list or what we say about it. Nothing here is charged before we have said yes to the tool itself.

  • Always

    Listing

    Free

Name, link, what it does. It goes in a queue a person reads, and you hear back either way. There is no paid version of being listed.

  • One off

    Jump the queue

    $99

We look at it within five working days instead of whenever we get there. You are buying our time, not our opinion. If we decide not to list it, you get the money back.

  • Per month

    Sponsored slot

    From $300

A labelled placement on a category page or the front page. It says Sponsored, in the same size type as everything else, and it sits outside the ranking rather than inside it.

  • Per send

    Newsletter

    Ask

One sponsor per issue, marked as one. Priced on the size of the list at the time, which we will tell you honestly because you can check it afterwards.

What is not for sale

  • A rating. Ours is what we think after using it, and it is not for sale at any price.
  • A place in the ranking. Sponsored slots sit beside the list, never inside it.
  • The verified mark. It means we checked, so selling it would make it mean nothing.
  • A review that reads as ours but was paid for. If it is paid, it says so at the top.

Where we earn a commission on a link, we earn it whether we praised the tool or not. That is the only arrangement under which the review is worth reading, and it is why the ranking is not for sale.
